Melbourne 4x4 show fires up again

One of Australia’s biggest 4WD and camping shows returns to the Melbourne Showgrounds this week-end

Kicking off today (September 2), and running until 5pm on Sunday, the National 4x4 & Outdoors Show, Fishing and Boating Expo caters to a wide range of outdoor leisure enthusiasts, with more than 200 exhibitors displaying latest products and services over 50,000 square metres, much of it undercover.

Exhibitors will showcase the latest 4WDs and accessories, camper trailers, tents and outdoor needs, boats, fishing tackle, kayaks, cooking equipment, various GPS and other outdoor equipment.
There’ll be non-stop action over the week-end in the Carsales-sponsored Action Arena, including Monster Trucks and the Loveday 4x4 Extreme Team tackling a custom-built dirt obstacle course.

Melbourne thrillseeker Sam Xuereb will also be attempting to smash a long-standing world record, when he props his 1500hp ‘Devil’s Taxi’ truck  onto its rear wheels and tries to complete the world’s longest Monster Truck wheelie, a mark that currently stands at 265 feet, or around 80.7m.

For anglers, there will be the popular Fishing Simulator Challenge and a Remote Control live arena, plus the latest lures and soft plastics will be demonstrated at the Yamaha Super Tank.

Entertaining and educational seminars from various industry experts will feature regularly on three main show stages, including 4WDTV’s Simon Christie and Danny from Your 4x4, AFL star and host of The Great Australian Doorstop Stage, Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt, and IFish’s Paul Worsteling.

4WD expert and bush-mechanic, ‘Roothy’ and his famous green Troop Carrier ‘Milo’ will also make an appearance each day.

Amongst the RV manufacturers, will be Queensland’s Earthcruiser Overland Vehicles, displaying its $215,000, go-anywhere, Mitsubishi Fuso truck-based EXP motorhome (pictured) for the first time in Victoria.

Caravancampingsales, along with sister websites Carsales and Boatsales, will also have a display stand at the show, so make sure to drop by and say hello.

Last year’s National 4x4 & Outdoors Show was one of the biggest in years, attracting 34,300 visitors. A number of great prizes up for grabs at this year’s show is sure to help pull in the punters again, with Anaconda giving away a $10,000 Adventure Package including kayaking, camping and fishing gear.
